Jigsaws

Download and print a jigsaw for each child. Colour the jigsaw then glue onto stiff card and cut into several pieces. You may want to turn it over and draw the pieces before starting to cut. Keeping to straight lines and gentle curves will help in the cutting out. Try assembling each others jigsaws.

Translate the envoi

Before this activity look through the envoi and make a list of the words you think your group may not understand, think of other possible words/phrases with similar meanings.

If you have a large group you may want to split into groups of 4-8 people, each group will need a pen and paper and for young groups a facilitator. Read through the envoi and ask the group if there are any words/sections which they do not understand, write these down and then brainstorm alternative words and phrases. Here's the result of the brainstorm from an elfin group.

Finally once you have discussed all the sections use your brainstorm to translate the envoi into terms your group understand. Alternatively you could now write a new envoi for your group including all the things they find important.

Here's the envoi from the above brainstorm
