Activity Duration

30 mins (includes time to play with them)

Objectives of the activity

Make a cup & ball game from recycled materials

Materials required

(per person) cup, 30cm string/wool, sheet of paper, sticky tape, scissors

Activity

Scrunch the paper into a ball and wrap with tape to secure it. Attach the string to the ball, tying a knot in the string helps stop it slipping out from under the tape. Stick the other end of the string to the cup.

Use stickers to decorate the cup

The aim of the game is to throw the ball & try to catch it in the cup

Variations

Would work with quite large groups as it’s quite easy. Older children would spend very little  time making but enjoy challenging a target number of catches without missing

Evaluation

The group enjoyed it and may took their games to school the next day.
Don’t paint the cups – it’s too messy when they start playing!
